Home Away From Home

Everyone needs a signature dish, that one dish people know you are for. If you do not have one yet, take a pick from the spurs selection of mains and I promise you, you will not be dissatisfied. After a long shopping day at the Canal Walk Mall, I find Mexico Spur to be the place to be, to tantalise your taste buds and indulge in good food. Not only do they have great food but they also provide a relaxed atmosphere where one gets to enjoy food without any instability.

Mexico Spur is situated in the upper level at the Canal Walk Mall at century city in Cape Town (which I thought was away from the other very busy areas in the mall). It is a franchise of Spur Steak Ranches founded by Allen Ambor back in the 1960s. Since then Spur has been known for its tasty, nutritious and value-for-money meals.
Mexico Spur caters for every one and they have been voted the best national family sit down restaurant from 2008- 2012.They have soft music playing at the background and their area is always very tidy. They also have a club for kids known as the PLAY CANYON and they organise parties for all their members.

Immediately you step into the door of Mexico spur, a friendly stuff member welcomes you and directs you to a table and once you settled you offered with a menu book with a wide variety of menus  from starters, mains desserts, kids menus you name it all. The first time I went there I was with a couple of friends and I personally ordered the spur famous pork spur ribs which were served with the spur garden salad and onion rings which cost R95  . The ribs were perfectly cooked with less fat and  sufficient seasoning and  they were very juicy i must admit they are the best ribs i have ever had my whole entire life. Their onion rings were not crispy fresh but when  i reported they were sincerely apologetic and  they offered me fresh ones. The average price of the main meal was R125 per person including drinks which is very reasonable for the quality of food they produce.

The stuff was very friendly and professional . Here and there the manger came and asked if we were enjoying the meal. They were very quick in what they do and the waiters were always aware .

All in all  i  was highly impressed by the quality of service they rendered and their food. i recommend you to go have your own experience there and i guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Welcome

Simply me!!!

Hie there. My name is Crystal Makate, a young lady who resides in the heart of the mother city Cape Town in South Africa. I am a fun-loving person with a great sense of humour and am fairly laidback. Most importantly I am a firm believer in Christ Jesus and am zealous about foodstuff.

I have been cooking since I was ten; starting up with my beloved mother as my mentor in the kitchen (may her soul rest in peace). For the past nine (9) years of my life I have been developing my food skills in school and I can joyfully and proudly say that am finishing my trainings in food and nutrition end of this 2014 year.

I am passionate about food and anything that relays to it (although my boyfriend sees it as more of an obsession) and I have created this platform to share my food experiences with many of the other food lovers out there. This blog is personal and I created it with the objective to share recipes and provide tips and ideas related to food. Here and there I will also post restaurants’ and books reviews.

I believe in food and exercise and I encourage people to indulge in any foods of their choice and worry about the extra calories later in the gym.

I trust happy meals bring the family together and I do hope my writing will help you as much as it helps me. Feel free to interact with me comments are welcome.

Welcomes to my word ……….. Free your taste buds and indulge in food.
